Congratulations to the 2023 Tri City Area Football Fans Choice and Editors Choice!!

Fans Choice:

Quarterback – Jackson Bergt (Newcastle) Bergt is a hard-working young man and leader of the Racers offense. He will look to guide the team to a deep playoff run.

Running Back – Aden Shumard (Newcastle) Aden missed the last three games of last season due to injury. Before then, he was having an outstanding year. He looks to return to regular form this season.

Wide Receiver/Tight End – Carson Bolser (Newcastle) The Racers’ offense looks to be a force this season and Bolser will play a big role in that. He will be a threat to haul in a deep pass on the outside.

Offensive Lineman – Chad Craft (Newcastle) Taking care of things up front on the offensive line will be Chad Craft. He is a tough kid that knows how to do his job well.

Defensive Lineman – Tristan LaBlanc (Bridge Creek) Tristan started as a true freshman and did an excellent job. He is a hard worker in the weight room and on the field. LaBlanc has a tremendous work ethic and also encourages his teammates to get better.

Linebacker – Ryan Place (Bridge Creek) Ryan will give you one hundred percent effort in everything he does. He is a very hard worker that shows excitement with our other players. When they are working, he is their biggest fan.
Defensive Back – Major Sharp (Tuttle) Major has the ability to play just about anywhere on offense and defense. He is willing to play any position to help his team be successful.

Editors Choice:

Carson Cooksey – Blanchard

QB Carson Cooksey 6-0, 180, Sr. Blanchard Lions

Our choice to lead the Editor’s team, Carson Cooksey threw for 2,698 yards, completing 173 balls with 26 touchdowns. His production is off the charts, and he has command of the offense. Few QBs will rival is numbers.

RB Brady McAdoo 6-0, 175, Jr. Tuttle Tigers

The human highlight reel, Brady McAdoo will give the Tigers a threat to score with every carry. Versatile enough to be used as a receiver, McAdoo will line up all over the field and be a nightmare for defensive coordinators to stop.

TE Caden Morrow 6-1, 190, Sr. Bridge Creek Bobcats

A versatile player for the Bobcats, Caden Morrow will see time at tight end and the H-back position. With good speed and hands, Morrow can hurt a defense in many ways. Look for Bridge Creek to move him around and get him in space.

OL Ross Johnston 6-5, 275, Sr. Blanchard Lions

A big reason Cooksey puts up great numbers, Ross Johnston has shown he and his fellow offensive hogs are capable of helping the Lions offense put up big numbers. Johnston is nasty inside and one of the top linemen in the class.

DL Taj Smith 5-11, 250, Jr. Newcastle Racers

Relentless when it comes to going after the quarterback, Taj Smith showed massive improvement last year and is expected to continue that trend into his junior season. Smith has what it takes to cause problems on every snap.

LB Joe Wright 5-8, 200, Sr. Tuttle Tigers

Last season Joe Wright made 88 tackles and four sacks as a junior. This season Wright is on a mission to lead the team in tackles, but more importantly he wants some playoff wins. Wright is everything you want in a linebacker.

DB Mark Douglass 6-2, 195, Sr. Tuttle Tigers

A big defensive back by any standard, Mark Douglass has the fortitude to be a run stopper and the athleticism to cover the deep ball. The Tigers have an outstanding secondary which forces QBs to pick their poison.
