Congratulations to the 2023 Shawnee Area Football Fans Choice and Editors Choice!!

Fans Choice:

Treyvon Compton – Meeker

Quarterback – Treyvon Compton (Meeker)

Compton completed 90 passes for 1,552 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. He put in the work in the offseason and is ready to continue his impact this season.

Wide Receiver/Tight End – Zaylun Matlock (McLoud)

Zaylun is a fast wide receiver that has a great knack for making difficult catches. One-on-one coverage is a bad idea and he makes defenders pay with his quickness and his tenacity.

Running Back – Shaun Hill (Tecumseh)

Hill can take it the distance at any time. He is a strong runner but also very agile.

Graham Hill – North Rock Creek

Offensive Lineman – Graham Hill (North Rock Creek)

Doing the dirty work in the trenches, Hill is a solid blocker and knows how to do his job.

Defensive Lineman – Caleb Coleman (McLoud)

Coleman is a force to be reckoned with and will cause problems for McLoud’s opponents.

Linebacker – Calvin Bray (North Rock Creek)

Bray totaled 64 tackles last year and is ready to increase his production this season.

Defensive Back – Kaiden Cue (McLoud)

Cue does a great job of shutting down opposing receivers. Look for him to make big plays this season.

Editors Choice:

QB Aiden Auld 5-11, 165, Sr. & Rex Geiser 6-0, 180, Sr. Prague Red Devils

A two-headed monster at Prague, Auld and Geiser provided over 1,500 yards rushing and 1,300 yards passing combined. They also accounted for 37 touchdowns.

RB Ajay Lynch 5-10, 190, Sr. Meeker Bulldogs

A reliable running back, Ajay lynch had a productive season as a junior for Meeker. Lynch rushed for 1,124 yards on 167 carries with 16 touchdowns. He added 29 receptions for 589 yards and eight scores through the air.

Zaylun Matlock – McLoud

WR Zaylun Matlock 5-8, 155, So. McLoud Redskins

An impressive season despite being the go-to receiver in an offense that features the short passing game, Matlock racked up 34 catches for 611 yards and four touchdowns.

OL JaQwon Evans 6-6, 285, So. Shawnee Wolves

A young selection for the Editor’s Choice team, but Evans is developing into a true talent on the line. He has a high ceiling and is a natural at his position.

DE Larron Thomas 6-3, 190, Sr. Shawnee Wolves

A rangy defensive end, Larron Thomas is best described as an athletic pass rusher that will cause problems for every offense he will face this season.

LB Austin Melson 6-0, 205, Jr. Bethel Wildcats

As a sophomore, Austin Melson recorded 106 tackles with one interception and three tackles for loss. His speed and physical play makes Melson an easy choice at linebacker.

DB Darrien Clark 6-2, 180, Jr. Tecumseh Savages

The returning leader in interceptions for Tecumseh, Darrien Clark nabbed five picks last season as a sophomore. Clark has the speed and recoverability to face an opponents best wide receiver.
