Washington vs Meeker

Second round will be against Meeker. They won their first round on the road against OCS. They are a big strong athletic team who has played a tough schedule. We will have to be ready for their speed and athletic ability on both sides of the ball said Coach Brad Beller.

This matchup is the first in school history for both teams, Meeker is coming off a good win against OCS and will have a challenge ahead of them against a Washington team that is physical and solid on defense. Meeker’s offensive line is big and physical and look for this to be a battle in the trenches between their offensive line and Washington’s big defensive line.

Purcell vs Millwood

The Dragons are coming off a 26-20 overtime win over Holdenville in a matchup of two power run football teams, They are tasked with taking on a Millwood team that is looking to go back to the state championship for the second consecutive season. This matchup is a tale of two different teams, Purcell will look to grind out the play clock with their running attack out of the flexbone while Millwood will look to get the ball into the hands of the playmakers out wide. The two teams have not faced each other since 2005 when they were both in the same district, They have not met in playoffs since 2003. Purcell is looking to make the quarterfinals for the first time since 2009 when they reached that round in the 3A playoffs.

Sulphur vs Lincoln Christian

This matchup is a rematch of the 2021 quarterfinals a couple seasons ago, Both teams are big and physical and it will be a battle in the trenches between offensive lines. Sulphur will look to run the ball but they will throw it deep to their playmakers when needed.

Davis vs Jones

This matchup on paper is similar to the Purcell and Millwood game, Davis will look to grind out the playclock and run the ball while Jones will look to get the ball into the hands of their playmakers and they excel greatly in the QB run game as well. Davis is looking to make the quarterfinals for the first time since 2017 while Jones is looking to make another deep run.

Ada vs Clinton

Two traditionally rich programs! Clinton has a very talented team and they are very well coached said Coach Brad O’Steen.

These two powerhouses are very familiar with each other in the postseason, The Red Tornadoes have an 8-6 record over the Cougars, Ada winning four of those in the state championship in 1970, 1993, 1994 and 1995, Expect a physical game on hand given the history of the two teams and Clinton’s run game and physicality.

Thackerville vs Waynoka

Waynoka is the team that beat us out at their place last year so this year they have to come to us. They are pretty big on the offensive line and have a couple of pretty solid running backs. I expect a physical game but also a game that we can win if we don’t make mistakes or have penalties that puts us behind the sticks said Coach Mark Barrett.

The Wildcats are looking to make it back to the semifinals for first time since 2008 when they also made the state championship that same season, Waynoka is looking to make it back to the championship for back to back years. These two teams met in the quarterfinals last season with Waynoka walking away with the victory. This matchup will feature two physical teams with a solid running game and could very well see a battle of the trenches in the run game.

Stratford vs Apache

Our 2nd round game will be a big challenge. They are very good, fast & physical. We look forward to the challenge said Coach Michael Blackburn.
