Muncy Leads Pitching Duel In Matchup Against Washington
This game could best be described as a matchup of softball powerhouses, Both Dale and Washington have a lot of tradition in softball and this is easily a top matchup when the two teams meet up. This game would be a matchup of pitchers in the circle, Teague Muncy for Dale and Olivia Palumbo for Washington.

The Lady Warriors strike first in the first inning with Ava Salcedo stealing to second after getting walked and with an RBI single from Shelbie Caveness to score Ava Salcedo from second but Teague Muncy would come up big in the circle for the Lady Pirates striking out the next two batters to get out of the inning. Bottom of the second inning would be all defense for the Lady Warriors as Olivia Palumbo would strikeout two of the four batters and Caveness would make a play in the outfield to get one of the outs.

Top of the second inning the Lady Warriors would go three up and three down, Muncy would strikeout two of the three batters while the third out came on a dropped third strike at first. The bottom of the inning the Lady Pirates would start off with Kelbey Welcher getting on first with a single to left field and despite two consecutive outs, The Lady Pirates would tie the game at 1-1 on a wild pitch that gave Welcher the chance to score from third and Heartly Snyder would reach first base on a dropped third strike.

The top of the third after two consecutive outs the Lady Warriors would get on base with a single from Emersyn Massey but third out would come on a pickoff by Kansas Jayhawks commit Karsen Griggs. Defense would continue to be the name of the game in the bottom of the third, After two consecutive outs, Reese Herring would get on base with a double to right field but a ground out on next at bat brought the inning to a close.

The fourth inning would be all defense as both teams went three up and three down. Top of the fifth the Lady Warriors would get on base with a single from Halle Andrews after two consecutive outs but a ground out brought up third out. The bottom of the fifth would be same thing two consecutive outs and Teague Muncy would get on base with a line drive single to left field but a strikeout brought up third out.

The top of the sixth inning, The Lady Warriors would get back to back singles from Emersyn Massey and Shelbie Caveness but the Lady Pirates defense would come up with two consecutive outs to close the inning. The bottom of the sixth inning would be where the Lady Pirates would get the bats going starting with a single from Reese Herring and a sacrifice bunt from Gracee Waller to advance Herring to second. The Lady Pirates would take the lead with an RBI single from Kelbey Welcher to score Herring. Kinley Patten would keep it going with a double to center field and the Lady Pirates would score again on an RBI single on a bunt from Daley Lang to score Mika Monroe.

The top of the seventh the Lady Warriors would go back to bat and would need to tie it, The Lady Pirates defense would come up big with two consecutive outs but Halle Andrews would get on base with a single on a fly ball to right field but Kinsley Hill would come up with the catch to get third out and seal the win 3-1.
Teague Muncy would pitch the whole game for the Lady Pirates surrendering six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out seven and only walking one. Olivia Palumbo pitched the whole game for the Lady Warriors surrendering seven hits and three runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Kelbey Welcher and Reese Herring each had two hits to lead the Lady Pirates in hits. Shelbie Caveness, Halle Andrews and Emersyn Massey each had two hits to lead the Lady Warriors in hits, Caveness went 2-3 at the plate to lead the team at the plate with one run.
The Lady Pirates are back in action on Thursday at home against Harrah while the Warriors begin play in the Heart of Oklahoma Tournament.
