Lady Warriors Remain Undefeated in District Play With Wins Over Crossings Christian
The Washington Lady Warriors was looking to remain undefeated in district play while the Crossings Christian Lady Knights was set to begin district play in Class 3A district three play.
Game one started out slow for both squads as the first inning would go scoreless but the infield for the Lady Warriors made some plays. The Lady Warriors would get on the board first in the bottom of the second with pitcher Olivia Palumbo stealing home on a passed ball to go up 1-0. Third inning the Lady Knights once again went three up and three down, Bottom of the third and first at bat of the inning, Center fielder Ava Salcedo would put another run on the board with a solo home run to right field. Top of the fourth the Lady Knights would load the bases but Ava Salcedo came up with an excellent catch in center field to get the third out.

The bottom of the fourth inning, The Lady Warriors would crack the lead open with an RBI double from Halle Andrews, An RBI single from Addy Larman and an RBI triple from Shelbie Caveness to make it 7-0.

The top of the fifth the Lady Warriors came up big on defense again with two great plays by Emjay Lucas at second and a bunt that went right back to Olivia Palumbo in the circle capped off by a strikeout, Bottom of the fifth the Lady Warriors would score another run at home plate on error from Daphne Palumbo but the inning would end on consecutive outs.

The Lady Warriors defense would hold the rest of the game and would take game one of the 3A-3 doubleheader by the score of 7-0. Olivia Palumbo pitched all of game one and only surrendered two hits with zero runs over seven innings, striking out eight and only allowing one walk. Addison Martin pitched the whole game for the Lady Knights allowing five hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out three and walking three.
Ava Salcedo led the Lady Warriors with two hits in four at bats. Shelbie Caveness led the Lady Warriors with two runs batted in and went 1-1 on the day. Daphne Palumbo stole two bases, The Lady Warriors had five stolen bases combined. Evan Rouse and Emmy Rouse each had one hit to lead the Lady Knights in hits.
Game two of the district doubleheader, The Lady Warriors got the bats going early first with Emersyn Massey reaching first on error scoring Ava Salcedo in the process, An RBI double from Presley Lucas, A walk with bases loaded, A run from Daphne Palumbo on a passed ball despite a ground out at third, Back to back RBI doubles from Addy Larman and Halle Schrader, An RBI single from Emersyn Massey and an RBI double from Shelbie Caveness, Another score on a passed ball this time from Massey, An RBI single from Bree McHughes and early on that would make it 11-0. The Lady Knights would go three up and three down to close the bottom of the first inning. Second inning the Lady Warriors would score early again as Addy Larman would get her second RBI double of the day and would score on a fielder’s choice to make it 13-0. The Lady Knights would get three runs in the bottom of the second, Hadley Holloman would reach on error to score Evan Rouse, A hit by pitch with bases loaded and a line out that gave Holland Robertson a window to score from third. Third inning would be scoreless for both teams. The top of the fourth, The Lady Warriors would score on four consecutive RBI singles from Shelbie Caveness, Presley Lucas, Kinzlee Pogue and Emersyn Massey. The Lady Knights would add a run on an RBI single from Rouse. The Lady Warriors defense would hold in the fifth and sweep the series 17-4.
Emersyn Massey lead the Lady Warriors with four runs and two hits. Emjay Lucas started the game in the circle giving up three hits and four runs over four innings, striking out three and walking three. Ava Salcedo came in relief for the last inning and only surrendered one hit with no runs. Holland Robertson went 2-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Knights in hits. Hadley Holloman, Evan Rouse and Jayden Kakish each had one run.
The Lady Warriors are back in action today against Dale while the Lady Knights play Mount. St. Mary.
