What does the 42-3 win over McLoud mean to Kingfisher? Everything.
Forget what you’ve read in the newspapers and lets talk about the players for Kingfisher stepping up and grabbing a huge win over McLoud to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Yellowjackets are now poised to grab a playoff spot in a district that features Perkins-Tryon and Metro Christian. Two teams at the top of the ladder. Kingfisher has wins over Mount St. Mary, Mannford and McLoud. That leaves Anadarko and North Rock Creek on the remainder of the schedule.
The formula is simple; beat North Rock Creek and you’re in. Kingfisher should get a win over Anadarko as well, but yes, I’m going to say you need to beat Anadarko in the final game of the season to solidify your spot.
This is a time when senior leadership should boil to the top. Kingfisher needs its upperclassmen to step up and lead by example on the field, but show the younger players how to handle adversity and stay focused on the task at hand. Folding up and going home is the easy path, I believe Kingfisher players are built tough and will decide to take the road less traveled. Good for them!
