Washington vs Sulphur

A matchup of two ranked teams in 2A and 3A. Sulphur, like every year, is very physical and fast on defense. They have added an explosive passing attack to their always effective running game said Coach Brad Beller.

They are a very confident and well coached team. Coach Beller and his staff always have their teams prepared and ready to go. Limiting Major Cantrell is a huge challenge for us, he’s a great QB that runs their offense at a high level. Alexander and Roberts are flat out studs, we are gonna have to be disciplined in our assignments and matchups with those guys…Howard is a great RB that has great vision and can cut on a dime, OL is very good in all phases. Defensively they are disciplined and absolutely swarm to the ball and are great tacklers. Both safeties are really really good and Defensive ends are big and physical… D line does a great job covering up LB’s and allowing them to run to the hall. Tremendous team speed, Hard to believe but after a 15-0 state champion team…this group they have now is better. We have to be disciplined and keep the ball in front of us on defense, cannot allow too many big plays or they will start rolling and that is not advantageous for us…we must take care of the ball offensively and take advantage of every opportunity. Got to have explosive plays from Gaddy and Patterson and OL has to play great. Huge challenge for us said Coach Corey Cole.

Dickson vs Tishomingo

Our TB had 19 carries for 180. Look for him to continue that momentum next week. Challenges are they are going to do everything they can stop him. Learning how to block a loaded box said Coach Matt Suffal.

Healdton vs Walters

They’re a good team got beat out last year in round two by Ringling and return a lot of starters. They have a big group of juniors. The key match ups for us is up front on both sides of the ball. The biggest challenge for us is their overall team speed said Coach Dylan Terry.

Paoli vs Temple

It’s great to see Temple taking the field again this season, Coach Howard will have them ready to play. They have a very athletic QB and a very explosive RB. Shutting them down will be a challenge for sure. Defensively they are fast and flow to the ball extremely well said Coach Vince Fulks.

Marietta vs Hinton

Hinton’s QB #1 and TB #5, they are also the inside linebackers, are really good. Hinton’s offense has a ton of formations and some tough motions. Defensively, they are fast and play a cover 2 scheme. It’s going to be a very tough matchup. It’s about a two and a half-hour road trip for us, and it’s another great challenge for our young team to gain a ton of experience said Coach Alex Doby.

Wilson vs Hollis

This should be another great game. Hollis is Hollis they will run the flex bone option game. They graduated a lot of kids off their team from last year but they have great athletes and they are good at running their offense. The key for us this week is to try to be more physical than them. And limit our mistakes from week “0”. Who ever comes out to establishes the line of scrimmage I feel like will win this game. Hopefully for us playing a game will be to our benefit this will be their first game of the season with one scrimmage. Our challenge will to be disciplined on defense just like anytime you face an option team. Everyone has an assignment and they need to do it every play. I feel like our biggest challenge will be off the field. We had a player airlifted Friday night and was a big part of our offense and defense. Friday night the players lost a classmate and a former player 2 years ago in an automobile accident. So this will be a very emotional week for the team said Coach John Williamson.

Maysville vs Mt. View-Gotebo

This week is a tough matchup for our defensive front 5 vs a very good MVG offensive line. Offensive line is a huge strength for MVG this season. I expect our offense to continue to take steps forward but they will have a huge test vs a very aggressive MVG defense. MVG QB is a very athletic player that we will have to contain with our LBs #1 Cayden Davis and #14 Bryce Shannon will have a huge task this Friday night said Coach Dace Lemieux.

Stratford vs Coalgate

We are looking forward to seeing how some of our young and inexperienced guys play Friday night. Coalgate has really good size and in the little bit of scrimmage film that we have, they played extremely hard and looked physical. It will be a great challenge for us coming out in week one. We lost a lot of production off of our team from a year ago, but we expect players like Lincoln Hall, sophomore quarterback and Walker Chandler, senior receiver and running back, along with Josiah Lester, Braylinn King, Justin Arriaga and Skylar Joslin to make plays offensively for us. Up front we are inexperienced with the only returning starter being Taylor Arriaga, but we are getting good leadership from a couple of seniors also in Will Bright and Josh Gifford. Defensively, we have 6 starters returning and this side of the ball will need to play well Friday night. Justin Arriaga led us in tackles last year and Walker Chandler will be expected to make plays on this side of the ball. Taylor Arriaga should be another one that we expect to make plays from his linebacker spot as well. We are looking forward to the season and we know Friday night will be a great challenge said Coach Michael Blackburn.

Davis vs Pauls Valley

It should be a great game. They are a very good football team. The best one they have had of the last 4 years. They are fast and physical. Have added a new dimension to their offense and can throw the ball really well. They have athletes all over the field led by their QB Luke Linville. They are also big and physical on both sides of the line. I fully expect them to make a deep playoff run at the end said Coach Dusty Raper.

We are excited to get started with our schedule but we open with a tough one. PV has a really good football team and they play a lot of kids. I think one of the biggest factors will be the heat. Both sides will have to rotate kids in and out of the game, Both teams have a solid quarterback and several guys to get it to. Both are run first teams that play physical. The team that wins the line of scrimmage will have the advantage said Coach Greg Parker.

Plainview vs Pilot Point TX

Pilot point has a great football tradition going back to GA Moore. (He was the winningest coach in TX when he retired.). They have a good young QB and some good threats on the outside. They are very sound on defense and fly around making tackles. They will be a big test for us coming out in our first game. They also have the advantage of having a game under their belt said Coach Joe Price.
