Weatherford Bounces Back From Season Opening Loss

The Weatherford Eagles evened their record at 1-1 with a 37-17 win over Kingfisher Friday night on Woody Roof Field. Nick Jett electrified the home crowd with a 70 yard kickoff return TD near the end of the 3rd quarter that put the game away. Jett caught 4 passes for 62 yards. CJ Nickson grabbed two passes for 79 yards and a TD. Stone Chism rushed for 44 yards and two scores. Jackson Blackmon had 53 yards rushing. The Eagles will step up in class this week with a trip to El Reno to face the much improved Indians Friday night.

The Fighting Irish walked in to the Tornado Bowl and did something that doesn’t happen often…Shut out the Red Tornadoes on their home field. McGuiness got 185 rushing yards from JP Spanier along with a pair of TDs. Clinton’s Kyntavion Hill carried the rock 21 times for 101 yards. The Irish outgained the Red Tornadoes 355 to 222. Things don’t get any easier for Clinton this week as Class 3A #1 Heritage Hall comes to town.
Elk City 28 Bridge Creek 8
It wasn’t pretty but the Elk City Elks did earn their second win of the season on Thursday night against the Bobcats. Big Elk Jr. Cole Buie had a career night hauling in 5 passes for 121 yards and 3 TDs. Buie also started the scoring with a 42 yard Pick Six in the first quarter. After 190 rush yards in the opener, Jayden Wynn was held to only 40 yards on 8 carries. The Elks will have to play better this Friday if they want to start 3-0 for the 3rd straight season. The Brown and White travel to the Texas Panhandle to battle 3A #1 Canadian.
