Tulsa Area Games to Watch for Week 3: Rogers for the Win? Glenpool or Catoosa, Who Wins at Home?
The crystal ball is a little less clear this week than last week. Several area teams are taking this week off, but there are still plenty of games for you to attend. We’re going to kick things off with a TPS game!
WILL ROGERS ROPERS at EAST CENTRAL CARDINALS
The Ropers are 0-3 but could easily be 2-1. Close defeats to Holland Hall and Memorial show the Ropers are on the cusp of putting together a win. The Cardinals are 1-1 and coming off a bye. They lost to Checotah in week 0 before defeating Nathan Hale in week 1. Both teams are on the rise, even with Rogers 0-3 record. That’s why I’m taking Rogers. This team is close, and a win here could set the tone for the rest of their season. Rogers 23, East Central 21.
FORT GIBSON TIGERS at GLENPOOL WARRIORS
Fort Gibson is 1-1 going on the road to Glenpool to face a Warriors team that lost last week to Sperry. Both teams have shown flashes of some quality football. The Warriors lost at home last week and no one wants to suffer back-to-back home defeats. Expect the Warriors to be fired up and ready. For the Tigers, their approach is a methodical one. Grind it out, take what Glenpool gives them and find ways to move the chains. This will be a tough game for both teams, but I’m taking the Tigers in a close one, 28-24.
EDISON EAGLES at CATOOSA INDIANS
Edison is having a strange start to the 2023 season. They are 1-1 with a win over Memorial and a loss to Hilldale. Meanwhile, Catoosa is 1-1 with a win over Verdigris and a loss to Stigler. Is there such a thing as a quality loss? The win over Verdigris is big for Catoosa. A rival game with a team that should be good this season. Edison needs to find their identity. I’m taking Catoosa, 34-24.
