Monday Morning Quarterback: Stillwater KOs Norman, Pawnee in Shootout, Woodland Takes Down Pawhuska
Stillwater Playing Up, No Problem
Brad’s Take: It’s a topic that will never go away thanks to Bixby. Can the best team in 6AII compete in 6AI? The short answer, of course. The lower tier teams in 6AI would struggle against Carl Albert in 5A and several others who are a full class down. Stillwater is trying to fill the gap left by Bixby and they are doing a good job of it. The 28-6 win over Norman is a statement win for the Pioneers as they move into district play.
Pawnee vs Meeker, Instant Classic
Brad’s Take: Despite a 90.3 QB rating and 408 yards of offense by Meeker QB Treyvon Compton, Meeker was not able to stop Pawnee from picking up the win, 46-40. The Black Bears are 3-0, yes 3-0 and are competitive enough to compete for a playoff spot in what may be the toughest district in Class A. A tough test next week in Hominy will tell us more about the Black Bears.
Woodland Makes Case as Solid Top 10 Team
Brad’s Take: The 38-22 win over Pawhuska on Friday night only serves as reminder that Woodland is an excellent football team with the potential to make a deep run in the playoffs. The second half of the schedule will determine where this team will land in district A-5. Jackson Rhodes and Trey Bennett are a dynamic duo for Woodland. Woodland faces Chelsea to open district play this week.
