Monday Morning QB: Elk City-Weatherford
Elk City 36 Altus 6
The Elk City Elks opened with a solid performance inside Hightower Stadium in Altus. The Elks scored touchdowns on their first two possessions and never looked back. Jayden Wynn rushed for 190 yards and a score. Each QB, Logan Webb and Catch Geno, threw a touchdown. Webb hit Jeremiah Jackson for a 79 yard score in the 3rd Quarter. Geno found Cole Buie from 40 yards out. Defensively the Elks held Altus’ explosive offense in check throughout, surrendering only 113 yards of total offense to the Bulldogs. Head Coach Zac Maynard was pleased, “We played the game the right way tonight. We have a long way to go, but there was obvious improvement from the scrimmage last Friday at El Reno.”
Clinton 20 Kingfisher 0
The Clinton Red Tornadoes started on the road in Kingfisher with a shutout of the Yellowjackets. Clinton rolled up 370 rushing yards, and only gave up 88 total yards on defense. Zaeden Collins was the star on offense with 204 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns. Coach Higbee was pleased with the physicality his team played with throughout. There were some Week 0 mistakes that’ll get cleaned up, but all in all it was what everyone’s come to expect from Clinton.
Newcastle 34 Weatherford 14
It was a 4A-1 vs 4A-2 battle in Newcastle Friday night. The Racers did an unbelievable job defensively against all world Jr. CJ Nickson, allowing him only a single catch for 9 yards. Cy Scammahorn and Nick Jett tried to pick up the slack for the Eagles. Scammahorn had a receiving TD with 115 yards. Jett ran for 27 yards and had 55 yards receiving with a score.
