I-35 Area Teams Prepare For Playoffs
Purcell vs Holdenville
Holdenville is a really good team and they play a super tough physical brand of Football. They will be a challenge across the board for us to stop and move the ball against said Coach Aaron Dillard.
This game will be a matchup of old school power run football, Holdenville’s rushing attack of Izaia King and Bo Black and Purcell’s rushing attack of Kash Guthmueller and Boston Knowles will be the highlight of this matchup and could very well be the game of the week.
Washington vs Lexington
Lexington is the four seed in district four. Lexington has several playmakers on offense and play a physical style of defense said Coach Brad Beller.
Sulphur vs Kingfisher
This matchup will feature two young teams looking to make a run. Sulphur is a team that is physical on defense and can pound the rock in the run game and make some big throws in the passing game.
Paoli vs Wilson Henryetta
Fast, fast , fast. They just line up and get after you. If you can manage to control the line of scrimmage they spread you out and throw it around the yard really well. We’re excited about the play-offs and getting after them said Coach Vince Fulks.
Thackerville vs Copan
Copan is a team that I feel is very beatable if we take care of business. They have a QB that is about 6’3”..230 and can sling it pretty well to a couple of good receivers therefore, we are going to have to put a lot of pressure on him. They also have a pretty good little running back that is shifty and is fast when he gets out in the open and we are really going to have to wrap up and tackle to keep him from breaking away.
I think we have more overall team speed than they do, which really works to our advantage so we are going to have to play sound football and score when we have the opportunities and not turn the ball over so if we can cut down some major penalties at crucial times and score when we get in the red zone I think we will be just fine said Coach Mark Barrett.
Davis vs Lindsay
A matchup of two run heavy teams that can run play action pass really well, Look for this to be a defensive matchup with both teams playing really physical.
Stratford vs Hinton
We are exited to be hosting Hinton this week. They are a well coached, physical team. Their qb is a strong runner & they look to have good speed. It will be a challenge for us said Coach Michael Blackburn.
Wilson vs SW Covenant
SW Covenant is a very experienced team with a lot of older returning players. They have had a great year and are well coached. They have great and very athletic kids. We will have to play mistake free football to win this game. Our district is matched up with a very tough district. Any one or the 2-4 teams could have easily finished 2nd in their district. Our keys to the game are to limit mistakes, don’t turn the ball over, don’t give up big plays, and be more physical than them. This is a big game we are trying to break the 30 year streak of playoff losses. This would be a big step for our program if we can do that said Coach John Williamson.
Lone Grove vs Perkins-Tryon
This game features a matchup of two different teams, A Perkins-Tryon team that plays very physical and runs the ball really well and a Lone Grove team that is pretty balanced.
