How Will the Week 9 Games Affect District 4A-1 Playoff Scenarios? Find Out in the Week 9 Games of the Week
Clinton (6-2, 4-0) @ Cache (4-4, 2-2)
The math here is simple. A Clinton win earns the Red Tornadoes another district title. At 5-0 even an unforeseen loss in Week 10 against Woodward wouldn’t matter with Clinton holding the head-to-head tiebreak over Elk City. District titles are nothing new in Clinton. Neither are playoff games in the Tornado Bowl. Cache is fighting for their playoff lives, but even an upset of the mighty Red Tornadoes wouldn’t guarantee the Bulldogs a seat at the 4A playoff table. Cache’s playoff fate will be decided in Week 10 at Chickasha. The winner there earns the 4th spot. The loser will be out. Clinton’s won 15 of the 17 all time meetings including the last 3. Traditionally in this spot the Red Tornadoes leave no doubt about who the King of 4A-1 truly is, and this year will be no different. Cache has been banged up the last few weeks and need to have all hands on deck next week in Chickasha. Clinton rolls to its 41st district title in school history with a 35-7 win.
Woodward (1-7, 0-4) @ Elk City (5-3, 3-1)
The Elk City Elks put themselves in prime position to finish 2nd in 4A-1 and play round 1 of the playoffs inside Big Elk Stadium with a 21-14 win over Weatherford last week. The job isn’t done quite yet. The Elks have to win one of the last two to ensure a second place finish. Woodward on Friday night is the first chance to solidify that spot. The Boomers have struggled all season with an extremely young squad. District play has been especially unkind to Woodward being outscored 152-7 in their four district tilts to this point. These two Highway 34 rivals don’t care much for each other, and I tend to believe Woodward will give the Elks their best shot on Senior Night in Elk City. These two have split the previous 10 in the series. With a playoff spot long gone for the Boomers, an upset of Elk City would be some consolation for a rough season. I just don’t see it happening. The Elks have every motivation to play well and finish this one early. I think they will to the tune of a 42-7 win over Woodward.
John Marshall (1-7, 1-3) @ Weatherford (5-4, 3-2)
After last week’s loss to Elk City, Weatherford’s playoff seeding is set. The Eagles will be the 3rd place team out of 4A-1 and will travel to whoever finishes 2nd in 4A-2. The main issue right now for Weatherford is health, and the Week 10 bye couldn’t come at a better time. The Eagles were with multiple starters on each side of the ball last week against Elk City, and they still were a score away from either attempting a game winning two point conversion or sending it to Overtime. They also lost the turnover battle 5-0. All that to say if this team can get healthy before the playoffs start, they will be a tough out for whoever finishes 2nd in District 2. Weatherford would love to get the job done early enough against the Bears to sit some guys in the second half. I think they’ll do just that. Eagles win 35-7.
4A-1 Playoff Scenarios

Elk City 2nd with win or Weatherford and Cache loss
Weatherford 3rd with win or Cache loss
Neither Cache nor Chickasha can clinch a spot this week
