We have almost a full slate of action in the Shawnee area this week. The only team not in action this weekend is Seminole, who has bye. We also have a few Thursday night games this week!

As always, if you are going to one of these games and would like to send me any stats or pictures for our Monday Morning Quarterback, you can email them to chris.cox@vype.com.

Home team listed first.

Shawnee Wolves (2-5, 0-3) vs Piedmont Wildcats (6-1, 2-1)

Where: Crain Family Stadium at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee

When: Thursday, 10/19/23 @ 7 PM

History: With only three district games left, every game matters. For Shawnee, they are looking to stay in playoff contention. For Piedmont, they can lock up a playoff spot tonight. Needless to say, both teams need wins tonight. Piedmont won the only other meeting between these two teams, beating the Wolves 44-7 last season.

Tuttle Tigers (5-2, 3-1) vs Tecumseh Savages (3-4, 1-3)

Where: Bill Hinkle Field in Tuttle

When: Friday, 10/20/23 @ 7 PM

History: This game also features a team in Tuttle looking to wrap up a playoff spot and team in Tecumseh that is looking to keep postseason hopes alive. These are two teams that have been going in opposite directions since district play began with Tecumseh having lost 3 of 4 while Tuttle has won 3 of 4. This is the 10thconsecutive year these two schools have met. Tuttle has absolutely dominated Tecumseh, winning all of the previous nine matchups by at least 22 points. Last season, Tuttle beat Tecumseh 40-6.

Bethany Bronchos (5-2, 3-1) vs Harrah Panthers (4-3, 1-3)

Where: SNU Football Stadium in Bethany

When: Thursday, 10/19/23 @ 7 PM

History: Yet another game in district 4A-2 that could wrap up a playoff spot. Bethany can clinch a spot in the postseason with a win while Harrah looks to keep their hopes alive. Harrah started off so strong in the non-district portion of their schedule, a loss and elimination from the playoffs would be very disappointing for a team that is on the rise. It won’t be easy though as Bethany has won the last seven meetings between the Bronchos and the Panthers. In fact, the last Harrah win over Bethany was in 1971. Overall, Bethany leads the series 10-8, including earning a 48-7 win last season.

Perkins-Tryon Demons (6-1, 4-0) vs North Rock Creek Cougars (4-3, 3-1)

Where: Perkins-Tryon Demon Stadium in Perkins

When: Friday, 10/20/23 @ 7 PM

History: Both of these teams are currently in playoff positioning but this game is still huge for both programs. North Rock is looking to get a little breathing room in the playoff race as they sit 4th in District 3A-1. Perkins-Tryon is in 1st place in District 3A-1 and could clinch the district title with a win and a Metro Christian loss. Perkins-Tryon won the only other previous meeting between these two teams, beating NRC 48-7 last season.

Kingfisher Yellojackets (2-5, 2-2) vs McLoud Redskins (4-3, 3-1)

Where: Kingfisher Yellowjacket Stadium in Kingfisher

When: Thursday, 10/19/23 @ 7 PM

History: McLoud can clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight while a loss could drop McLoud to the 4th spot in District 3A-1. This will be the 5th meeting between these two teams. Kingfish has won all of the previous four meetings, however most of the games have been close with the largest margin of victory being just 22 points. Kingfisher beat McLoud 21-14 last season.

Seminole Chieftains (3-5, 2-2)

Where: BYE WEEK

When:

History:

Bethel Wildcats (2-5 1-3) vs Crossings Christian Knights (5-2, 2-2)

Where: Bethel High School Football Field in Shawnee

When: Friday, 10/20/23 @ 7 PM

History: In crowded District 2A-2, this game could have big playoff implications. Crossings Christian is currently in the 5th spot with Beth in 6th in district, so a win by either team would do wonders for their playoff odds. Bethel is also for a little bit of revenge as Crossings Christian won the only previous meeting between the team schools, beating Bethel 35-0 last season.

Meeker Bulldogs (3-4, 2-2) vs Luther Lions (3-4, 2-2)

Where: Meeker Stadium in Meeker

When: Friday, 10/20/23 @ 7 PM

History: This is a game that features two teams currently tied in District 2A-2. Right now, Luther holds the tie breaker due to marginal points, but whichever team wins will be in the driver’s seat for the 3rd seed. Luther has dominated this series with 9 wins to Meeker’s 4. Last season, Luther beat Meeker in a high scoring game 81-62.

Prague Red Devils (7-0, 5-0) vs Warner Mustangs (2-5, 1-3)

Where: Red Devil Field in Prague

When: Friday, 10/20/23 @ 7 PM

History: With a playoff spot clinched, Prague is now looking to guarantee themselves a home playoff game and potentially earn a district title. To do that, the Red Devils will need to beat a Warner team that is looking to keep their playoff hopes alive. Prague won the only other meeting between these two teams, beating Warner 7-0 last season.
