Games to Watch: Shawnee Area Week 7 Schedule

We have another full slate of Shawnee are action this week. With Fall Break here, there are several games on Thursday night.

Eisenhower Eagles (3-4, 0-3) Shawnee Wolves (2-4, 0-2)

Where: Cameron Stadium in Lawton

When: Friday, 10/13/23 @ 7 PM 

History: This is a big district matchup for both teams. Shawnee is trying to prove that they are ready to compete for a playoff spot this year while Eisenhower is looking to get their first district of the year and keep their playoff hopes alive. Eisenhower won the only other previous meeting between these two schools, beating the Wolves 17-12 last season.

Tecumseh Savages (3-3, 1-2) vs Bethany Bronchos (4-2, 2-1)

Where: Tecumseh Football Stadium in Tecumseh

When: Thursday, 10/12/23 @ 7 PM

History: With district races heating up, this matchup could have big implications on District 4A-2. Tecumseh is trying to get back on the winning track and stay in the playoff hunt while Bethany is looking for their 3rd straight win and move up in the district standings. This will be the 6th meeting all-time between these two squads and Bethany has dominated the series, winning all five of the previous meetings by at least 18 points. 

Harrah Panthers (4-2, 1-2) vs Newcastle Racers (5-1, 2-1)

Where: Evans Field in Harrah

When: Thursday, 10/12/23 @ 7 PM

History: Harrah is coming off a big win last week as they were able to snap a two-game skid to get their first district win of the season. Newcastle also got a big rebound win last week blowing out Bridge Creek to earn their 2nd district win of the year. Both teams are currently on the outside looking in when it comes to the postseason and a win for either team would go a long way to a playoff spot. This is the first meeting between these two teams since the 1981. Newcastle currently holds a 2-0 advantage over Harrah.

North Rock Creek Cougars (3-3, 2-1) vs Anadarko Warriors (1-5, 1-2)

Where: North Rock Creek Stadium in Shawnee

When: Thursday, 10/12/23 @ 7 PM

History: NRC comes into this game on a bit of a roll with two straight district wins. The Cougars, who are looking to make it to the postseason for the first time in school history, will try to make it three wins in a row as they take on an Anadarko team that has now lost two straight. Anadarko won the only previous meeting between these two teams beating the Cougars 37-7 last season. 

McLoud Redskins (3-3, 2-1) vs Mannford Pirates (1-5, 0-3)

Where: McLoud Stadium in McLoud

When: Thursday, 10/12/23 @ 7 PM

History: McLoud currently finds themselves on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs but they can keep their playoff hopes alive with a win over a struggling Mannford team. Mannford, on the other hand, is looking to snap a four-game losing streak and get their first district win of the year. This will be the 14th overall meeting between these two schools with McLoud holding a slight 7-6 lead in the series. McLoud has also won 4 of the last 5, including getting a 34-26 win over Mannford last season. 

Seminole Chieftains (3-4, 2-1) vs Lincoln Christian Bulldogs (6-0, 2-0)

Where: Seminole Chieftains Football Stadium in Seminole

When: Thursday, 10/12/23 @ 7:30 PM

History: Seminole comes into this game playing maybe their best football of the year. They will now take on arguably their toughest test as they host the undefeated Lincoln Christian Bulldogs. This will be the 8th straight year these two schools have faced off and 10th time overall. Lincoln Christian has dominated this series, winning 6 out of the previous 9 meetings including a 49-0 shutout over Seminole last year. 

Star-Spencer Bobcats (3-3, 0-3) vs Bethel Wildcats (2-4, 1-2) 

Where: Carl Twidwell Stadium in Spencer

When: Friday, 10/13/23 @ 7 PM

History: Both teams are looking to get back on track this week. Bethel is trying to stay in the playoff hunt while Star-Spencer is trying to snap a three-game losing skid and get their first district win of the year. Bethel currently leads this series 5-4. They have also won the past two meetings, including getting a narrow 40-38 win last season.

Jones Longhorns (4-2, 3-0) vs Meeker Bulldogs (3-3, 2-1)

Where: Tim Wallace Memorial Stadium in Jones

When: Thursday, 10/12/23 @ 7 PM

History: After a slow start to the season, Jones is rounding into the form we all tend expect from the Longhorns. For Meeker, they will be looking to play homecoming spoiler and hand the Longhorns their first district loss. This is a long running series that has seen these two teams meet 18 times since 1980. Jones, however, has dominated the series and holds a 15-3 record over Meeker. The Longhorns beat the Bulldogs 50-35 last season. 

Sequoyah Indians (4-2, 3-) vs Prague Red Devils (6-0, 3-0)

Where: Sequoyah High School Stadium in Tahlequah

When: Friday, 10/13/23 @ 7 PM

History: This is a big district game for both teams. For the Red Devils, this will be their toughest game to date. For Sequoyah, they are looking to prove they belong in the conversation for best team in 2A. The winner of this game will also stay in no worse than a tie for first place in District 2A-5. This is just the third ever meeting between these two schools. They split their previous two meetings but Prague got the better of Sequoyah last year winning 60-6.
