Games to Watch: Shawnee Area Week 6 Schedule

We have another full slate of Shawnee are action this week. There are no Thursday games this week but we do have one in-area matchup as rivals Tecumseh and Harrah square off on Friday night.

Shawnee Wolves (1-4, 0-2) vs John Marshall Bears (0-5, 0-2)

Where: Crain Family Stadium @ Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee

When: Friday, 10/6/23 @ 7 PM 

History: This is a matchup of two team looking to get back on track. The Wolves are looking to snap a three-game losing streak as they play their final non-district game of the season. John Marshall, on the other hand, is looking for their first win of the season. Shawnee leads this series 3-2 but John Marshall got the better of the Wolves last year, winning 22-13.

Harrah Panthers (3-2, 0-2) vs Tecumseh Savages (3-2, 1-1)

Where: Evans Field in Harrah

When: Friday, 10/6/23 @ 7 PM

History: Both teams come into this game needing a win. Harrah, after an impressive non-district run, has lost both of their district games while Tecumseh will look to keep their solid play going after getting a big district win last week. This is one of the longest continuous rivalries in the area with the Savages and Panthers squaring off every year since 2000. Going back to 1970, these teams have played a total of 44 times with Tecumseh holding a slight 24-20 edge. Tecumseh won this matchup last year, beating Harrah 13-6 in a defensive battle. 

Mount St. Mary Rockets (2-3, 0-2) vs North Rock Creek Cougars (2-3, 1-1) 

Where: MSM Rocket Field in Oklahoma City

When: Friday, 10/6/23 @ 7 PM

History: NRC comes into this game off their first district win of the year, crushing Mannford 24-2. Mount St. Mary, on the other hand, is 0-2 and looking to get that first district win. Mount St. Mary has been beaten by a combing 84-20 in their first two district games. This will be just the second ever meeting between these two teams. NRC won last year’s inaugural matchup 29-15.

McLoud Redskins (3-2, 2-0) vs Metro Christian Patriots (3-2, 1-1)

Where: McLoud Stadium in McLoud

When: Friday, 10/6/23 @ 7 PM

History: McLoud has started off their district schedule perfectly beating North Rock Creek and Anadarko. But this week’s test gets tougher and Metro Christian heads to McLoud. The Patriots are always tough, even if they are 1-1 do far in district. This will be the just the second ever meeting between McLoud and Metro Christian. The Patriots shutout the Redskins last year, 35-0. 

Muldrow Bulldogs (1-5, 0-2) vs Seminole Chieftains (2-4, 1-1)

Where: Muldrow High Stadium in Muldrow

When: Friday, 10/6/23 @ 7:30 PM

History: Both teams are looking to get back in the win column after tough losses last week. This is a tough district and a win by either team would keep them in playoff contention. Seminole holds a 4-1 lead in the series but the Bulldogs got the better of the Chieftains last year, beating Seminole 35-12.

Chandler Lions (4-1, 2-0) vs Bethel Wildcats (2-3, 1-1)

Where: Chandler Football Field in Chandler

When: Friday, 10/6/23 @ 7 PM

History: Both teams are looking to build off impressive district wins from a week ago. For Chandler, they expected to be here and are always one of the better teams in 2A. Bethel, however, has exceeded everyone’s expectations except their own. Chandler is 2-5 all-time against Bethel and have won 3 of the last 4. Last year, the Lions beat the Wildcats 48-15. 

Kellyville Ponies (0-5, 0-2) vs Meeker Bulldogs (2-3, 1-1)

Where: Kellyville Stadium in Kellyville

When: Friday, 10/6/23 @ 7 PM

History: Meeker is coming off a tough loss to a very good Chandler team last week. Kellyville is looking to get in the win column for the first time. For Meeker, a win would keep them squarly in the playoff race. This has been a fairly even matchup over the years. Kellyville holds a slight 5-4 advantage over Meeker, however the Bulldogs have one 4 of the last 5. Meeker won last year’s game 56-12. 

Prague Red Devils (5-0, 2-0) vs Roland Rangers (1-4, 0-2)

Where: Red Devil Stadium in Prague

When: Friday, 10/6/23 @ 7 PM

History: Prague is looking to continue their winning ways and beat a Roland team that is in desperate need of a win. This is the second meeting between these two teams. Prague blew out Roland last year 55-6.
