Games to Watch in the Shawnee Area for Week 5

We have another full slate of Shawnee are action this week. Like last week, we have one Thursday night game but no in-area matchups.

Shawnee Wolves (1-3, 0-1) vs Carl Albert Titans (5-0, 1-0)

Where: Crain Family Stadium @ Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee

When: THURSDAY, 9/28/23 @ 7 PM

History: The Wolves have their work cut out for them this week as welcome arguably the best team in the state, regardless of class, to Shawnee. Carl Albert leads this series 5-3 overall and have won four straight over the Wolves. Carl Albert won last year’s game 59-7.

Tecumseh Savages (2-2, 0-1) vs Classen SAS (3-1, 0-1)

Where: Tecumseh Football Stadium in Tecumseh

When: Friday, 9/92/23 @ 7 PM

History: Both teams come into this game looking for their first district win of the year. This is the fourth overall meeting between these two schools. Tecumseh has won the previous three matchups, including getting a 40-14 win last year.

Tuttle Tigers (3-1, 1-0) vs Harrah Panthers (3-1, 0-1)

Where: Bill Hinkle Field in Harrah

When: Friday, 9/29/23 @ 7 PM

History: These two teams have met every year since 2014 and have met 11 times overall. It’s a series that have been dominated by Tuttle as the Tigers are 11-0 all time against Harrah. Tuttle won last year’s matchup 38-7. 

North Rock Creek Cougars (1-3, 0-1) vs Mannford Pirates (1-3, 0-1)

Where: North Rock Creek Football Field in Shawnee

When: Friday, 9/29/23 @ 7 PM

History: This is only the second meeting between these two programs. In last year’s inaugural meeting, the Wildcats beat Mannford 28-21.

Anadarko Warriors (1-3, 1-0) vs McLoud Redskins (2-2, 1-0)

Where: Warrior Stadium in Anadarko

When: Friday, 9/29/23 @ 7 PM

History: McLoud is looking for their first ever win against Anadarko. The Warriors are 5-0 all time against McLoud, including earning a narrow 21-20 win last season. 

Seminole Chieftains (2-3, 1-0) vs Checotah Wildcats (4-1, 1-0)

Where: Chieftain Stadium in Seminole

When: Friday, 9/29/23 @ 7:30 PM

History: This has been one of the better games in the state over the last several years. While Seminole holds an 8-2 advantage over Checotah, most of the games have been close. In fact, last year’s 52-26 Seminole victory was the largest margin of victory since 2007. 

Bethel Wildcats (1-3, 0-1) vs Kellyville Ponies (0-4, 0-1)

Where: Bethel High School Football Field in Shawnee

When: Friday, 9/29/23 @ 7 PM

History: Both Bethel and Kellyville come into this game looking for their first district win of the season. Last year’s meeting was their first ever meeting with Bethel winning a thriller 55-47.

Meeker Bulldogs (2-2, 1-0) vs Chandler Lions (3-1, 1-0)

Where: Meeker Stadium in Meeker

When: Friday, 9/29/23 @ 7 PM

History: This is an early test for both teams that have their eyes on a district title. This is one of the longer running rivalries in the area with the two teams meeting for the 11th time in 10 years. It is also Meeker and Chandler’s 41st meeting in the last 45 years. Chandler leads the series 26-14. The Lions have also won four straight over Meeker, including a 47-28 win last season.

Prague Red Devils (4-0, 1-0) vs Keys Cougars (1-3, 1-0)

Where: Red Devil Stadium in Prague

When: Friday, 9/29/23 @ 7 PM

History: This will be only the second meeting between these two programs. A Prague win would give them their third straight season of starting 5-0 or better. Last year, the Red Devils beat Keys handily, 59-6.
