Clinton 21 Elk City 7

It was a whole lot of the same on Friday Night inside the historic Tornado Bowl in Clinton. The Red Tornadoes hadn’t lost to Elk City on their home turf since 1998. They still haven’t. The game was a physical back and forth for 48 minutes. Elk City won the battle between the 20’s, outgaining the Reds 308 to 242. The Red Zone was the difference. Clinton scored 3 TDs in 3 trips inside the Elk City 20. Elk City scored 1 TD in 4 trips inside the Clinton 20. Clinton’s QB Cooper Sulley accounted for all 3 TDs (2 Rush TD and 1 Pass TD). Kyn’Tavion Hill and Zaedon Collins combined to rush for 157 yards. The Brown and White were perfectly balanced with 154 yards rushing and 154 yards passing. Clinton’s Head Coach John Higbee was very happy with the outcome, “I’m happy. We faced adversity. Had all kinds of things not go our way. We fought our guts out and got back to some basic football.” Elk City Head Coach Zac Maynard was proud of his guys as well, “Felt lie we were right there all night just couldn’t get over the hump for some reason. Our kids played hard, gave everything they had. I’m proud of them.” Coming up this week Elk City has a quick turnaround on Thursday night with Cache coming to Big Elk Stadium. Clinton plays another gigantic game with a trip to Weatherford Friday night.

Weatherford 43 Woodward 0

It was a tale of two halves for the Weatherford Eagles in Northwest Oklahoma against Woodward. The Eagles sleepwalked through the fist half and only led 14-0 at halftime. The second half was more of what was expected as Weatherford ran away from the Boomers to win 43-0. Head Coach Reagan Roof noticed a stark contrast in the second half, “Intensity was different. Challenged them at halftime to come out with more intensity and to act like they wanted to be here. To their credit they responded.” Jackson Blackmon paced the Eagles offensively with 8 carries for 86 yards and a TD. CJ Nickson caught a 22 yard TD pass to get things started. Things will ramp up on the schedule this week for Weatherford as the Clinton Red Tornadoes come calling Friday night on Woody Roof Field.
