Clinton 58 John Marshall 18

The Clinton Red Tornadoes opened District 4A-1 with a 58-18 win inside the Tornado Bowl against the John Marshall Bears. The Reds racked up over 500 yards of total offense while holding the Bears rushing attack to an astounding -55 yards. Clinton scored 8 TDs, 6 rushing and 2 through the air. Kyntavion Hill led the running backs with 101 yards on 9 carries with a score. QB Cooper Sulley completed 6 of his 7 attempts for 73 yards and 2 TDs. Coach John Higbee was pleased but knows his team still has more in the tank, “No Question wer’re playing hard. We’ll go strike you. We’ll go hit you. But still a lot to work on.” The win improves Clinton to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the district. Things will get tougher on Friday night with Elk City coming to town.

Weatherford 35 Chickasha 15

The Weatherford Eagles held serve on Woody Roof Field Friday night in a 35-15 home win over Chickasha. The Eagles got the running game going with two runners almost over the 100 yard mark. RB Jackson Blackmon toted the rock 12 times for 94 yards and a TD. QB Stone Chism rushed it 15 times for 90 yards and 3 scores. Head Coach Reagan Roof says the Eagles are still on track, “We’ll take a District win anytime. Still got to try to get better every week. We’re still on the hunt for a District Championship.” Weatherford’s the only team in 4A-1 with a winning record at 3-2, 1-0 in district play. They’ll hit the road to Northwest Oklahoma to face Woodward this week.
