Game of the Week

Bishop McGuiness @ Clinton

There are very few if any settings in Oklahoma high school football that can match the history and tradition of the Tornado Bowl in Clinton. Friday night it’ll host another huge game. Bishop McGuiness is coming off a season opening, 35-20 win over Putnam City. Clinton went on the road and shutout Kingfisher 20-0. The Irish handled the Red Tornadoes 46-14 a year ago. There were many questions about just how good this version of the Red Tornadoes can become. Friday night will be another step toward answering that question.

Bounce Back Week

Weatherford vs Kingfisher

The Eagles challenged themselves with a trip to Newcastle in Week 0. Things didn’t go great in a 34-14 loss to the Racers. The Eagles offense was unable to get all everything receiver CJ Nickson going with only a single catch for 9 yards. Kingfisher will get their second straight 4A-1 opponent in the non district. The home opener on Woody Roof Field will give Weatherford a chance to get the kinks worked out before the games start to count in two weeks with district play beginning.

Another Chance to Improve

Elk City vs Bridge Creek

The Elk City Elks opened the 2023 campaign with a dominant 36-6 win in Altus. The improvement defensively from the scrimmage against El Reno to the season opener in Altus was easily noticeable. Thursday night provides these young Elks another chance to improve before the schedule stiffens significantly. Bridge Creek blasted Lexington 42-0 in their Week 0 opener. The Bobcats are looking for their first signature win since moving up to 4A a year ago, and a victory against the District 1 defending champs would be just that.
