ALVA GOLDBUGS at FAIRVIEW YELLOWJACKETS
The Goldbugs on the road have a tough matchup with the defending Class A state champs in Fairview. Alva will employ a defense that could make it difficult for Fairview to air it out. However, Fairview features one of the top quarterbacks in the state in Jax Bernard who threw for more than 3,000 yards last season. While Alva will play a physical game, the finesse of Fairview is too much. I’ve got Fairview over Alva, 34-17.
BALKO-FORGAN BISON at TYRONE BOBCATS
Coming into this contest, both teams are looking for their first W of the season. The Bison (Class B) have 12 starters back from last season, but it wasn’t enough to get past Waynoka last week. Tyrone lost to a Turpin team that featured a strong run game, which is what Balko-Forgan would love to establish early. In the end look for the Bison defense to make plays and keep the Bobcats out of the endzone. I am going with Balko-Forgan 28, Tyrone 21.
YALE BULLDOGS at OKLAHOMA BIBLE ACADEMY TROJANS
The Yale Bulldogs spent much of the off-season locating a new head coach, while OBA pressed on with business as usual. The Trojans are on an impressive run sitting at 2-0 and outscoring opponents, 110-20. Featuring one of the best players in the class in Jud Cheatham, the Trojans will likely roll in this one, but Yale is game, and they have nothing to lose. I’ll take OBA, 48-10.
WOODWARD BOOMERS at BETHENY BRONCHOS
So, Woodward did not have a great showing against a very good Guthrie team. The pressure is off, and Woodward is looking to get things back on track. But the Bronchos of Bethany are no joke. With several players making early watch lists, Bethany should walk through this one with an easy win. However, Woodward is tough and will play four quarters of football. I really want to see Woodward in an upset here. Let’s go Boomers, 20-17 in overtime! Or Bethany 42-6.
