3 Northwest Area Games to Watch: Surging Plainsmen Face No.1 Team in State, Texhoma – Pride of the Panhandle, Garber v Pond Creek-Hunter Kick Off District Play in Class C
Plainsmen Looking to Climb the Mountain
Brad’s Take: Celebrating the win over Moore is old news. Now the Plainsmen face the best team in the state in the Bixby Spartans. Ask anyone in Bixby and they will tell the game of football was invited in Bixby. I kid. The Plainsmen have the impossible task, no way they should win this game. Bixby is unstoppable. The Plainsmen must play hard and gain some respect. I think they do that and try to keep it close. Bixby gets the win, but it’s not without a fight. 42-28 Bixby.
Texhoma Looking to go 5-1
Brad’s Take: The Pride of the Panhandle is 4-1, 2-0 in district and go on the road to face Thomas, a team that’s 2-3, 1-1 in district. Thomas continues to improve under head coach Bob Ward who is in his 16th season. Joey Scott at Texhoma has his team playing good football, but Ward and the Terriers will test the Red Devils. I like Texhoma in this one, 38-21.
The Season Starts Now for Class C and the Wolverines
Brad’s Take: Garber has not played well the last three games. Well, that’s not fair. They were playing good teams who are collectively 14-1. Drumright and Covington-Douglas are undefeated, and Yale has one loss. Pond Creek-Hunter comes to town to kick off district play. The Panthers are 3-2 and looking to pick up an important road victory. But there is something about a team that plays a tough non-district schedule. Assuming health is not an issue, I like Garber to get the win here, 28-24.
