Alva Poised for Big Win Over Newkirk

Brad’s Take: The Goldbugs might be 1-3, but they have an opportunity to knock off Newkirk, a team struggling to find their first win of the season. Alva is still in a spot to compete for a berth in the playoffs if they can get past Newkirk. Not picked to make the playoffs, Newkirk would love to play spoiler here. Overall the Goldbugs should get past Newkirk, 21-13.

Enid Must Win Over Moore

Brad’s Take: You hate to think this is a must-win game this early in the season, but it is week 5 for some and it is a crucial district game for the Plainsmen and here’s why. They are good enough to beat Broken Arrow, Southmoore and possibly Westmoore. If so, a win over Moore would put them in a position to make the playoffs. Moore is undefeated coming into this game. All three wins for Moore were 3-points or less. Road game for Enid, the pressure is on for Moore to perform. Give me Enid in an upset, 31-28.

Thomas at Fairview Collision Course

Brad’s Take: This should be an easy win for Fairview playing at home. But hear me out. Thomas has been in every game they’ve played this year. Their loss to Sayre may be the exception. Thomas can play solid defense and if they can win the turnover battle, they have a shot. Fairview has developed into a scoring machine with one of the best offenses in the class. Thomas is game, but in the end, Fairview should pull out the victory. I’m taking Fairview, 41-23.
