3 North Area Games to Watch: Pioneers Face Salty Sandites, PoHi Road Warriors, Cushing Smells Revenge

Stillwater Needs Win Over Gritty Charles Page

Brad’s Take: If I’ve learned one thing watching a Sand Springs team coached by Bobby Klinck, it’s their toughness and willingness to sellout for four quarters. They will need that if they want a win over Stillwater. In their last 3 contests the Pioneers have given up 25-points to opponents and have scored 152 points while riding a three-game winning streak. The first half will set the tone but look for the Pioneers to pull out their fourth win in a row. I’ve got Stillwater, 42-17.

Ponca City May Change Mascot to Road Warriors

Brad’s Take: Before you call the school and complain about the name change, sit down and take a breath. No they are not changing their name, but maybe they should if they pick up another win on the road against Putnam City North. A dominating performance against Lawton has the Wildcats riding the hopes of pulling off another road win. The Panthers have wins over Southmoore, Capitol Hill and NW Classen, but this Ponca team should be a different animal. I like PoHi (and the name change, just this game) 37-21.

Don’t Tell Cushing it’s David v Goliath

Brad’s Take: When you think of Wagoner, you think of championships. They are the defending Class 4A champs. They own 5 titles in the last 10 years. And let’s not forget…24-21. Cushing has faced these giants before. Both teams have a healthy amount of respect for one another. This is a road game for Cushing, so the pressure is on the win at home for the Bulldogs. Cushing might have them right where they want them. Give me Cushing on the road to win in OT, 24-21.
